The first showcases the unique view where you can “see 7 states.” The second highlights the iconic “See Rock City” barn. John Ross Common (Address: 200 E Lake Ave, Rossville, GA 30741) John Ross served as the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation from 1828 to 1866 and lived in this home in the 1830’s. The historic house serves as the centerpiece for a resurgent commons area that includes duck watching, a monthly catch and release fishing event and musical performances. McLemore (Address 32 Clubhouse Lane, Rising Fawn, GA 30738) While McLemore features the “best finishing hole in America since 2000,” according to Golf Digest, it is also home to Inspiration Point, a scenic overlook on Lookout Mountain high above McLemore Cove. Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail (Address: 299 Pocket Road, Chickamauga, GA 30707) This nearly one mile down and back trail features a boardwalk, waterfall and nearly 50 varieties of wildflowers. The trailhead marker is already in place near the wildflowers at the bank of the Chattooga River. Chickamauga Battlefield Connector Trail (Address: 415 Wilder Road, Chickamauga, GA 30707) This new walking trail will eventually connect the Chickamauga Battlefield to downtown Chickamauga, however you can take a selfie at the spot where the trail meets the Chickamauga Battlefield today. West Chickamauga Creek Blueway at Lee & Gordon’s Mills ( Address: 71 Red Belt Road, Chickamauga, GA 30707) Did you know you can kayak all the way from Chickamauga to the Tennessee River near Chattanooga State? This blueway trail starts at Lee & Gordon’s Mills in Chickamuga, heads through the Chickamauga Battlefield, past Camp Jordon and then finishes near Chattanooga State. Cloudland Canyon State Park A geological wonder with deep canyons, cascading waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. This breathtakingly scenic park is on the western edge of Lookout Mountain. The park straddles a deep gorge cut into the mountain by Sitton Gulch Creek, with elevations between 800 to 1,980 feet. The most magnificent viewpoint is found near the picnic area parking lot. However a walk along the rim trail offers spectacular vistas as well. The more intrepid visitors who choose to hike to the bottom of the gorge (including a 600-step staircase) will discover two waterfalls tumbling over layers of sandstone and shale into the pools below. (For visitor safety, wading in pools and climbing on waterfalls is not allowed.)
